All squad members are required to attend the fourth swim meet held at Langlands Pool this Friday 23rd Feb at Langlands Pool. Parents are required to pick-up their son/s at the venue at 4.30pm.

AIC Swimming Information Letter – 2018

As from Friday 2nd February on-wards, we plan to provide the swim squad with a cooked breakfast after their training session. The Friday swim session involves all squad members from Year 5-12. The swim breakfasts are a great way for the entire team to get together and bond as a team. The cost will be $20 per student.  Please see the information letter below for further details. Payment can be made via Skoolbag or money given to the Sports Office.

Swimming training is offered to all students at Villanova College, along with any boys enrolled to begin school at the College in the subsequent year.

The annual AIC Swimming Championships is held in the middle of Term 1 at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre in Chandler. To give Villanova the best possible chance at taking home the trophy, all current and future students are invited to commence their swimming training at the beginning of Term 4 in the previous year.

Training commences early September and continues until the AIC Swimming Championships, excluding a two-week break over the Christmas period. Although we acknowledge some students choose to attend preseason training at other clubs, we encourage all swimmers to join the sessions offered by Villanova College whenever possible to build a rapport with their teammates.

All training sessions are held before and after school at Langlands Park Memorial Pool on 5 Panitya Street, Stones Corner. Swimmers in years 5 to 8 are coached by Ms Kerry Holland, while those in years 9 to 12 are trained by Mr Humberto Angerami. Villanova Old Boys are also often on hand to assist with training.

Training is open to all students, whether they’re hoping to make the College’s swimming team or simply wish to increase their physical fitness. However, those boys seeking to represent the College at the AIC Swimming Championships are expected to train regularly to ensure their selection in specific events.

Selection criteria for the AIC Swimming team is based on commitment to training, attitude, behavior and performance at lead-up carnivals. These carnivals are held on Friday afternoons or evenings in Term 1 in preparation for the AIC Swimming Championships.

During the season, additional information such as training times, team lists, coaching staff, schedules and results are available on the College website.
