Villanova has a proud tradition of music education, starting from the first days of every boy’s journey at the College. The Wieneke Family Music Trust raises funds to ensure Villanova students who experience financial hardship have opportunities to fully participate in the music education program of their choosing.

Your support will help Villanova boys pursue their musical talents and gifts through the Wieneke Family Music Fund.

“Could you imagine a world without music? Don’t try, it would be too disheartening. Villanova Music is the source of much joy, discipline, resilience, fun, co-operation, and pride. As importantly, there is a power in music that introduces beauty and awe to the lives of participants and supporters. Music can propel us into the realm of the spiritual. Maybe that is why St Augustine said, ‘singing belongs to lovers’. I invite you to imagine a Villanova where students advance in grace and talent by accessing the very best musical experiences.”

About the Wieneke Family Music Fund:

The Villanova College Foundation Wieneke Family Music Fund is a managed DGR (Deductible Gift Recipient) supports Villanovans with music tuition fees and related music financial assistance.

During the 1990s, Mrs Edna Wieneke kindly donated the core of the fund to Villanova College for music purposes. The fund gratefully accepts donations from all members of the community and supporters who share the belief that all children, regardless of economic circumstances, should have access to music education.

The fund was formed with the blessing of Villanova’s current College Chaplain, past Rector, and nephew of Mrs Edna Wieneke, Father Peter Wieneke OSA, Class of 1962.

The Wieneke Family Music Fund distributes music bursaries and assistance on a needs basis for eligible students who:

  • Due to financial limitations, would otherwise find it difficult to continue their son’s participation in the music program
  • Who have demonstrated enthusiasm for playing a musical instrument
  • Who have keen enthusiasm to continue their music education

For further information, please contact Villanova College Director of Music, Mr Michael Jones. All requests for assistance and recipients of the Wieneke Family Music Fund are treated with confidentiality.
