It has been a massive 2023 in the sporting arena, with over 190 teams across 14 AIC Sports. All in all, over 1200 students and 200 coaches have been engaged in Villa Sport in 2023.

We have included some of the Sports Office favourite shots from the year!
Term 1 Sport Uniforms
Prior to the start of Term 1, families are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the Villanova College Uniform Look Book. This information is found on the website Uniform Shop page. Opening hours for the Uniform Shop can also be found here. All students selected in AIC teams are expected to wear the correct uniform for AIC fixtures each week.
Please note for students playing AFL and Volleyball, the College supplied ‘hire jerseys’ for these sports. Students will receive information on when to collect their hire jerseys from the Sports Office/Uniform Shop in Week 1, Term 1. This is coordinated by the Sports Office, so parents do not need to collect hire jerseys.
Once collected, students will wear their hire jersey for all AIC fixtures in Term 1 and return to the Uniform Shop following the final round. The College generally allows a couple of weeks following the last round for hire jerseys to be returned. Following this, parents may incur a late fee. Information regarding this process will be available in the College Newsletters in Term 1.

Year 4 Competition Wraps Up
Our Year 5 students for 2024, concluded their six-week cricket competition at Kianawah Park last Saturday afternoon. The main focus of the competition is for the boys to meet new boys who will be entering into Villanova next year and hopefully create some friendships will make the start of next year more exciting and enjoyable for them. It also gave parents the opportunity to also make new friends and to meet the other parents who will share the Villa journey with them for the next eight years.
As each Saturday went by, it was clear to see that the main goal was achieved, as many of the boys seemed to have more fun getting together off the field than actually playing cricket. We did however, entice a few boys to sign on and play cricket next year and hopefully, this is the start of a number cricket careers here at Villanova.
Thanks to the parents for coaching, scoring and umpiring to make each week run smoothly.
Cricket Coaches Needed
Unfortunately, we have found it difficult to find coaches to cover some of our teams. If there are parents who could volunteer to take on a coaching role for any of the following teams, it would be greatly appreciated. Please contact ceverding@vnc.qld.edu.au if you can help: 9B and 8C

External Achievements
2023 was a very memorable year for four students who were selected at representative level for Touch Football. In July, Billy Pearson, Lenny Hine, Charlie Farmer and Eamon Cowley won the Junior State Championships for U14 boys Touch Football in Rockhampton. From this they went on to win the DoorDash National Youth Championships in October. From Nationals, Charlie Farmer has been selected in the 2024 Queensland Youth Academy for U14 Broncos NRL Touch Football representative team.
