In the tradition and spirit of St Augustine, the College and the Parents and Friends Association (P&F) share a common goal of providing all Villanova students with a comprehensive, quality education among state-of-the-art facilities and dedicated teachers.

We seek to accomplish this within a community that is “of one mind and heart on the way towards God.” As a parent, friend, teacher or student, your participation in College life is an essential aspect of our community.

The P&F offers parents an avenue to participate in the spiritual, intellectual, emotional and social development of all students within the College.

In the Junior School, each class has two parent representatives, while in the Middle and Senior schools, each year level has four parent representatives. The role of the class and year level parent representatives is to act as a liaison between the parents of the particular class or year level and the P&F.

Throughout the year, P&F members hold a number of functions, which afford opportunities to meet other parents and further enrich our community. The largest of these functions is the annual Villanova International Carnival held in March.

Music Support Group and Sports Club

Two other vital parent groups are associated with the Parents and Friends: Villanova Music Support Group and Villanova Sports Club.

The Music Support Group works with College staff in raising funds to purchase equipment for the music program and staging regular concerts throughout the year. Affiliated with the Music Support Group is the QCMF Committee, the organising body behind the immensely successful Queensland Catholic Schools’ and Colleges’ Music Festival.

The 25th anniversary of this wonderful music festival was celebrated in 2015. It has proven very popular with Catholic schools, students and parents across the state of Queensland.

The Sports Club supports College staff with all sports in which Villanova participates as part of the College’s membership of the Association of Independent Colleges (AIC).

The Sports Club generously provides funds in a number of areas within the sporting program. Hands-on assistance is also given in the canteens and in coaching and managing teams, all of which is vital to the continuing success of Villanova’s sports program.

The P&F meet with the Music Support Group on Monday evenings and the Sports Club on Wednesday evenings. A very warm invitation is extended to all parents who wish to attend. Meeting dates are published in the College calendar and the College newsletter.

How You Can Help

Villanova is blessed to enjoy such a strong tradition of parent participation in the College’s life. Much has been achieved as a direct result of parents’ energy and participation, and all families are invited and encouraged to actively engage in the ongoing life of the College community.

Every contribution counts, whether coaching an U10 cricket team, helping out and sharing a joke at the Tuckshop or Second Hand Uniform Shop, selling meat trays at the International Carnival, or overseeing the audio at the QCMF.

We thank you for taking the time to be part of our valued College community and for working with Villanova to ensure the very best education for your son.
