ROCK LANDFORMS of Australia & New Zealand

Tectonic landforms originate through land movements
Landforms from land movements are found widely across Australia and New Zealand. NZ is tectonically active - plate movements produce volcanic activity in the North Island and mountain building in the South Island. There are numerous examples in Australia of landforms formed through earth movements, although, in general, they are not as spectacular as those of New Zealand.
This section of ROCK LANDFORMS of Australia and New Zealand will illustrate key aspects of tectonic landform features and their development (i.e. their geomorphology) through pictures, text and sketches.
NOTE: Tectonic landforms have not formed on a specific rock type (or types), rather they are the results of processes that may occur on many rock types.
